A new era. For me the deep silent and mostly alone

A new era. For me the deep silent and mostly alone (honestly) inner work of healing is complete. Gratitude to all who supported me and the bigger weaving of golden threads into a hammock that held me from there to here, beautifully choreographed.

Crisis demanded I had do the work - in order to be myself. Recent mini-crisis galvanised another step. Deepening beyond healing.

These times of intensity we are living through are intense outside and inside. Those of us committed in service need to remember to let go and let others be as they are. We respond when called. We take care of ourselves and we can in our maturity also rest.

Our love is radiant and ready when needed - for self and other.

Moving Your Body To Release Tension

As a professional bodyworker who has therapeutically touched thousands of human bodies, I know we all carry our own habits of tension. These eventually get in our way…

You can learn how to easily release your own tense muscles. The body is meant to be in constant movement. The body is meant to change, move, stretch, carry, bend, stride, hop, skip and jump.

Our task is to recognise and release these unconscious patterns of stuckness. They don’t disappear by just ignoring the pain or becoming distracted by something else.

It is empowering to work with your own body, to use movement to release your own tightness!

1. Begin by noticing tension in your shoulders, a common site of response to stress. At first just sense.

2. Then very slowly, raise your shoulders. Keep building tension, squeezing your shoulders in and up - while continuing to breathe, don’t hold your breath.

3. Then, quickly release your shoulders and take much bigger breaths. Allow vigorous movement, shakes, wiggles, shrugs… How does your body want to move?

4. Notice how your shoulders are and where they are. Notice how you are now. You probably feel a bit freer.

You can repeat this tense and release exercise anywhere in your body - hand, arm, thigh, etc. You can repeat it anytime.

Self-care is not just diet and exercise, it’s also the deeper cleanse of releasing habits and patterns that no longer serve us. Making the unconscious conscious. X

How To Overcome Loneliness

1. Overcoming loneliness is about gaining the courage to reach out to someone - even though they might reject you or be indifferent to you. And they also might like you and respond well to you! It is a risk.

Reaching out is a basic human movement. Babies reach out to their mothers. We reach out to others to expand our world.

The healing is learning to better tolerate the pain of rejection and/or indifference from others. You can build your own capacity for social courage, by starting to take small risks.

This can become a daily practice, asking for a small something, and being willing to feel the small rejection of hearing “no.”Explore silly asks, obvious asks that will be refused.

This practice is empowering, giving you experience and strength, for when you really want to connect with someone!

2. One of the ways we can feel lonely is because we have abandoned ourselves. Our minds are in one place and our body is in another.

Simply by noticing, paying attention to our own arms and legs, our hearts and feelings, we begin the journey of coming home to ourself.

Right now, sense your body. Often there is a small positive experience gained by ‘accompanying’ your own good self. There is a palpable sense of being less lonely.

3. And, on a deeper level, there is the truth that none of us are ever really alone. We can relax.

Election Day in the U.K. today. I want to encourage you to use your vote, whoever you think will be best to lead us forward now.

People struggled and fought to have the right to vote. Your heart and voice matters.
.
When people complain about stuff, I always encourage them to deliver their message to the ears that can hear, the hearts that can feel. (Not just to mutter to their mates.) Together we co-create the beautiful world we want ourselves, our children and grandchildren to live in.

Have you thought about creating a Pleasure List? Yup, a list of things you find delightful!

Usually focused on emotional and economic survival, getting to the end of our to-do list, it’s too easy to forget about the existence of pleasure and joy… Perhaps later, we think, if there’s enough time or energy left.

Pleasure is our birth right. In intimacy and in daily life. A pleasure list can help us to remember what we really like – and can hold that priority for us, for when we forget.

It’s super simple to create your own Pleasure List. Begin by choosing or making a small notebook that you really love. That you will enjoy touching and engaging with…

Give yourself a timeframe to list all the things you love. Perhaps 5 or 10 minutes. For example, Ice-cream. Back massage. Sunshine. Kisses. Dresses. Nice Fabrics. Brie cheese. Berries.

Don’t just jot a shopping list, instead write it out as, “I desire ice-cream. I desire a back-massage. Let yourself ‘have’ your own wants, needs and desires. Allow yourself to dream.

As you write, allow yourself to sense into each pleasure, imagining it, feeling your connection to and response to it. Having a little taste of it…

Notice how you feel afterwards. Do you already feel a little more resourced, nourished by the thought of more pleasure?

Put the notebook somewhere specific and come back to it from time to time - to dream of more pleasureable delights - and to remind yourself of what is possible.

You too can have a life infused with small pleasures and delicious delights. The Universe of Deliciousness is waiting for you to discover it!
