Right now there is a lot of talk about the divine feminine
This topic has been around for a while – one could say it has been around a very long time, it is one of the most ancient mystical subjects. And right now, Autumn into Winter 2016, it seems particularly relevant. It seems it is arising in response to external events, is present in astrological themes, and is centerstage now in myself and in many other healers and light workers, men and women. Perhaps you recognise it in yourself too?
My experience of the feminine
For myself, I have long known myself to have been in a previous life a temple priestess or sacred lover. This meant being an impersonal physical channel for the divine. This lifetime that is not the form of work I am called to do but my work or message remains the same – notice that the earthly is already the spiritual and sacred. There is no division.
The light is enclosed within the darkness, it is hidden within all materials, earth, metal, wood, plastic, plant or flesh. It is hidden within all emotional states, happy or sad, frustrated or fearful, angry or peaceful. Within the drama of the human condition is ‘the real’ if we can but only feel and notice what is actually happening. Drama is for watching! Drama is there for the watcher to watch!
As a child I remember being in the garden in a state of indivisibility. Does such a word exist? Being indivisible, not separate, from the world. For a very long time I could not articulate that felt experience and communicate it to others. I could not ‘translate’ what was most precious to me into a format others busy with this and that could understand. But now, with deep changes in myself and in the world, it seems the time has come to speak and share that which I know and have always known…
What difference does ‘feminine’ make?
Recognising that the sacred is already here brings an internal shift from disrespect for others as convenient objects to fulfil unmet needs – to honouring and respecting that which is, just because it is. In other words, a shift from agenda, strategy and depersonalisation towards relationships. And this brings deep satisfaction, inclusivity and equality. It can bring about a better world for all!
How can I get there?
You cannot get there just by thinking this. It is a shift in perception from heady ideas, thoughts, assumptions and plans which seem to put control in place – down into the immediate experiences of the body sensations and feelings – until you are still, as if sitting in the centre of a blooming flower. It is a transmission of a state of being that is rich, delicious, pleasurable and wise.
This is a state within which the genitals are energetically open. Open to receiving a great deal of sensual information in everyday life – not just confined to the act of sex. Our organs of perception are not just eyes, ears, nose and mouth. We have a wealth of nerves in our genitals for sensing. And this sensing of information can bring us pleasure and wise-response to the immediate moment. Contrary to popular belief, deep relaxation and opening of the pelvis would not bring a collective crazy wildness – it would bring each of us more quietness, power, satisfaction and wise guidance.
Making the world a better place
If we want to change our world – and I think really all of us do – we can best do it by including a more feminine way of being. Both men and women can do this. We do it by changing ourselves. And we make change by loving ourselves exactly as we imperfectly are. Neither rejecting or ignoring what is uncomfortable but embracing all experience as a kind of ‘food’ for the soul – for the soul to know its own true self.
Division is not real and is not healthy. It diminishes our own considerable power and self-authority. It is true that we are stronger together. But we need to be strong individuals realised in our independence and autonomy – relating together with authenticity, care and interest in each other.
The future is female as a male friend of mine claims. I say that the future is feminine. Meaning the feminine principles of inclusivity, not-knowing, trust, spontaneity and other easy to learn life skills. For centuries now cultural patriarchy has run the show with emphasis on so-called masculine attitudes of competition, distrust, disrespect, domination etc. It is now time for a more feminine culture of inclusivity, relationship, sensuality and nurture. It is time to make this change for the survival of our species as a whole, and for a better, more enriching life experience for us as individuals.
Divine Masculine and Feminine
All this talk of feminine can sound as if men are useless and irrelevant. They are not! They are very much needed. But we need the true masculine rather than the over-masculinisation of society, men and women that has taken place. We need balance. We need the rise of the divine feminine now to rebalance us. And we also need the rise of the divine masculine, with its true qualities of love, focus, service and action. Individually and collectively we must integrate our feminine and masculine. May these two energies and peoples be not in competition but in healthy collaboration.
